Established in 2010, co-founders Thomas Yohnnson & Nicole Yohnnson launched the Burlington County K-9 Search & Rescue department to provide essential emergency response services to the communities we serve. Our mission is to bring closure to families in need and reunite loved ones with those who are waiting. While our department is named after our headquarters in Burlington County, New Jersey, we proudly serve all of NJ, PA, DE, and MD! This department operates with 100% volunteers, and is fully insured, and is ready to assist 24/7, 365 days a year. Best of all, we offer our services completely free of charge and do not accept payment for our help!
We all know what K-9 Handlers do—but what makes us cooler than the rest? We can take our K-9 partners home with us every night!
Each K-9 Handler goes through a series of tests with their K-9 partner to assure the best outcome when faced with real-world challenges during emergencies. These K-9 Handlers and their K-9' complete over approximately 600 hours of training to prove they have what it takes to work as a unit to complete the task at hand.
SAR Technicians (Search & Rescue Technicians) play a crucial role in maintaining team integrity and teamwork. Their primary responsibility is to assist the K-9 Handler when needed and to serve as ground pounders. The most members we have working alongside the K-9 and K-9 Handler, only better the outcome for locating the missing person. In addition to their primary duties, SAR Technicians engage in map and compass work, radio communications, basic first aid, and provide an extra set of eyes on the lookout for victims. They undergo hundreds of hours of training to efficiently fulfill their roles.
